Bad Breath
I am a bad breath expert. I have first-hand, or perhaps I should say first-mouth, experience.
I have smelled it many times and, no doubt, even had it a few times.
Also, I have studied it in school, although no more than needed. I mean, really, who’s all that interested in it?

Some of you may be more familiar with the term halitosis. That’s just a fancy word for bad breath.
The causes of halitosis are the same as the causes of bad breath. A cure for bad breath is a cure for halitosis. Let’s forget about halitosis and just call bad breath what it is.
What causes bad breath?
Glad you asked. There are several causes. Most of them live in your mouth. It is home to the many bacteria that produce the foul odors we know too well.
Although most people first think about teeth when they think about bad breath, it is your tongue that is coated with those evil bacteria.
Yes, bacteria also are in your teeth area. All over them, in fact.
Unfortunately, bacteria also live and work below your gum line, where it is difficult, if not impossible, for you to get at them.
You also should know that bad breath can come from your diet. Some foods give off strong odors. Foods that are high in protein also can cause bad breath.
Bad lifestyle habits can be bad breath causes. Smoking tobacco and alcoholic beverages produce foul odors in your mouth.
Bad odors coming from your mouth also can be caused by some medical problems.
How to get rid of bad breath?
Not all is lost. There are many ways to cure bad breath.
Brushing your teeth is one of the obvious bad breath remedies. It is familiar to all of us. You need to brush at least twice a day.
While brushing your teeth, you also should brush your tongue.
Flossing is a good bad breath remedy, but people are not as good at that as they are at brushing. It takes more effort and produces more of a mess. You should floss at least once each day.
Another popular bad breath cure is using a mouthwash. It is quick, easy and cheap. The product is available almost everywhere and comes in many flavors.
Many people combat bad odors by using flavored chewing gum with a mint, cinnamon or fruit taste.
People also use breath mints and breath strips as a bad breath treatment.
Usually bad breath is temporary. Few suffer from chronic bad breath. Even that can be treated by a doctor or dentist.
Drinking water is a great method of bad breath prevention. The key thing you gain from drinking water is that it keeps up the moisture level in your mouth during the day. That makes life harder for the bacteria living in your mouth.
Another prevention technique is to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and less meat. The moist foods are best.
